Name: Macy Jeffery Ring

Education Abroad Coordinator, UCR

B.S. in Anthropology

UCR, Class of 2005

Among some of my favorite memories of UCR have revolved around international education. I was a study abroad student and interned with the Education Abroad Office. From 2003-2005, I helped advise UCR students about education abroad opportunities. During this time, I also volunteered as an International Peer Advisor to assist international students transition to life in Southern California and studying at UCR.

I did not realize it then, but those undergraduate years helped shape who I have become today. I have held a number of various positions within higher education since 2005 because I enjoy working with students and contributing to their academic development. The work of academic advisors and student services professionals really do make a difference! I returned to UCR in 2014 as an Education Abroad Coordinator, helping to encourage UCR students, especially underrepresented ones, take advantage of education abroad and other high-impact practices.

Returning to UCR as staff has been very rewarding because I have been able to give back to my alma mater community that has given so much to me. Big or small, I hope to make a difference in the lives of UCR students every day.

ce in the lives of UCR students every day."
