Name: Dr. Nada Awad, M.D.
UCR School of Medicine, Class of 2018
UCR School of Medicine is unique in that it came to be through the hard work of the community, and the belief that the Inland Empire being one of the most under-served counties in Southern California, is in dire need of more doctors. My class was a beautiful reflection of our community. We were racially diverse, some of us, including myself, were immigrants and we all came from a variety of socioeconomic classes, and were genuinely passionate about serving the under-served. We got to grow along side our medical school, and play a role in shaping it, and shaping the UCR medical education for future classes to come. It was one of the biggest privileges of my life to be part of the UCR SOM story, and I will always cherish my years there.
